With Power comes Responsibility

Whenever you try hot water hydrotherapy, always be aware of certain precautions. If you’re unsure of your own medical condition, check with your doctor before you indulge in hot water therapy.

* Hot immersion baths, and long, hot saunas sessions are not recommended for those with diabetes or multiple sclerosis, pregnant women and anyone with high or low blood pressure, as it can cause dizziness.

* If hyperventilation occurs, turn down the temperature and breathe from your abdomen, not chest

* Elderly people and young children can become exhausted by too much heat and should avoid long full-body hot treatments.

* Remember that individuals react differently to heat; if you start to feel lightheaded or nauseated, get out of the water immediately

* Don’t hot water soak during or after drinking alcohol or using drugs. These may cause sleepiness, drowsiness or changes in blood pressure.

* When you start to relax in hot water, you tend to get sleepy. Just make sure you get out of the water before you feel drowsy.
